Celebrations for International Women’s Day!

Celebrations for International Women's Day

KC was delighted to be invited to join some of the wonderful celebrations for International Women’s Day last week 💐

It was inspiring to spend time with so many incredible women from across the East, each bringing their own experiences, perspectives, and leadership to a wide range of industries.

Events like these are such a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and talent of the female leaders in our region. It was a privilege to hear so many inspiring stories and to celebrate the progress women continue to make while supporting one another along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who organised such thoughtful events and to the brilliant women who continue to lead, inspire, and pave the way for others. 🌸

Women in Construction Week, Do We Really Count?

Women in Construction Week

Women in Construction Week always brings me back to the same comment someone made to me a couple of years ago.

“You’re not really in construction though, are you?”

Because apparently if you’re not physically on the tools 24/7, it doesn’t count. 🤷🏻‍♀️

At the time I laughed it off… but it did make me think and it’s stuck with me ever since.

Some days I’m on site meeting clients, catching up with our workers and understanding the project in more depth.
Other days I’m at my desk in the office lining up the people who will actually deliver those projects.

So where does that put me?

Not on the tools. But also not outside the industry either.

And if I’m honest, there have been moments during Women in Construction Week where I’ve thought… am I a bit of a fraud celebrating this? (Hence why it’s took until now to post!) 🥴

The more I think about it, construction isn’t just the site. It’s everything, all the pieces that come together to make a project happen.

So this week I’m absolutely celebrating the women on site and on the tools — but also the women in every other role that contributes to a construction site’s success.

And if someone still thinks that I don’t count as “being in construction”

Well…

We’ll have to agree to disagree. 😉
