It is found that men are more than twice as likely to be dishonest to others when it comes to their emotions, with 22% admitting they always lie about how they feel, compared to 10% of women.
Men in the UK are three times more likely to die by suicide than women. However in construction – a male dominated industry, men are three times more likely to die by suicide than the national average for men.
We see first hand, how the construction industry has a variety of pressures from tight contracts to long hours, sometimes even time away from loved-ones. Managing budgets and delivering to programme, not to mention the added stresses of post pandemic life, especially with rising costs left, right and centre. Although we have seen improvements, unfortunately there still lies a “macho” culture which prevents many workers from seeking support and help when they may need it.
