It is found that men are more than twice as likely to be dishonest to others when it comes to their emotions, with 22% admitting they always lie about how they feel, compared to 10% of women.
Men in the UK are three times more likely to die by suicide than women. However in construction – a male dominated industry, men are three times more likely to die by suicide than the national average for men.
We see first hand, how the construction industry has a variety of pressures from tight contracts to long hours, sometimes even time away from loved-ones. Managing budgets and delivering to programme, not to mention the added stresses of post pandemic life, especially with rising costs left, right and centre. Although we have seen improvements, unfortunately there still lies a “macho” culture which prevents many workers from seeking support and help when they may need it.
If you aren’t “fine”, we are here. Not just today, not just tomorrow but every single day.
Today Kelly was invited by Rebecca Campbell to an event at The Assembly House hosted by Hopestead Flagship_Group called “Hope in Action” with the inspirational speaker Dr. Sam Collins 👏🏼
What a mind-blowing talk, with some quite scary facts which are quite thought provoking! It will take a 132 years to reach gender equality, so make a difference today.. 💭
A movement that resonates with Kelly; is “Pay it Forward”, Sam kindly gave out signed copies of her book at the end of today, as long as once you have read it – you pay it forward. So watch this space… 📖

To be in a room packed full of people all with the same belief, that it is important that women can see a viable career for themselves in the construction industry, is phenomenal. 👷🏻♀️

Featured on ITV Anglia last night, Kelly Cartwright was interviewed about the increase of retired people going back to work.
The last year has seen ONS have reported the following figures;
• 116,000 more over 50s (in work or looking for work)
• 8.5% rise in men 65+
• 6.8% rise in women 65+
Kelly says “The older generation who are time served; have a mass of knowledge that cannot be learnt straight out of college or university. It takes years to learn the tricks of the trade.”
